Creativity, Conception and Prototyping Seminar - SCCP

Creativity, Conception and Prototyping Seminar - SCCP

Seminar for master's and undergraduate students at FEUAN.

Its main objective is to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to formulate and prototype concrete solutions to a problem of great impact on society, which is the gradual increase in plastic waste.

During the seminar a Project was developed, which aims to " REUSE OF PLASTIC WASTE " .

The Project was developed in different stages, presented in the following points:

Plastic Collection

Main Objective: Process the Collection of Plastic Waste of the PET type

Represent the method of collecting plastic waste at the mapped locations, using environmental education and financial incentives; the collected plastic waste is then stored and delivered to the treatment manager.

Design New Product Design

Main Objective: Design of Water Reservoir and Building Blocks out of PET Plastic.

Treatment - Micro Companies

Main Objective: To produce water tanks with recycled PET bottles as the main raw material, for rainwater harvesting.

This is a sustainable and low cost solution to store water in areas where potable water is scarce. In this project we built a reservoir with the capacity to store 2000 liters of water from rainfall and/or air conditioners for sanitary use.

Treatment - Small Business

Main Objective: Produce building blocks with a mixture of Styrofoam, sand, vegetable oil and PET as raw material;

The manufacturing of the Building Blocks will follow two processes, namely the Mechanical and Chemical Process. The mechanical process consists of crushing the PET until it has a size of 4mm, in the next phase the crushed PET is mixed with Styrofoam and fine dry sand to give the Chemical process, the vegetable oil will serve as a separation layer between the shape and the mixture PET and Styrofoam.

Economic Model and Communication

Main Objective: To create an economic model and communication for the micro small and plastic waste reuse enterprise.

The model was based on sustainable economy. In this context the reuse of plastic waste appears as the link that unites three (3) central issues: i) income for the most disadvantaged; ii) the reduction of solid waste and; iii) the reduction of environmental impact. In terms of communication, we chose to raise awareness among high school students about the problems of plastic waste, and to create a website.
